Maggie Valley, North Carolina
The town of Maggie Valley has been a destination since the turn of last century when folks escaped the heat of southern cities for the refreshing cool mountain air in the summers. The spectacular changing of leaves in the fall along the Blue Ridge parkway and the ability to make snow at Cataloohee for 3 or more months in the winter have rounded out the season for visitors. Winding through the town from its start up at Soco Gap, Jonathan Creek is a North Carolina Heritage Trout Water. Stocked with Rainbow Trout, the fishing is good as is the cool water to wade into.
